Stuart Price (Thin White Duke, Paper FacesJacques Lu Cont) is back at the reigns of his effortlessly neat band Zoot Woman after a long hiatus (2003) with the soon to be released ‘Things Are What They Used To Be’.

The feature spans 12 tracks long and is both adventurous and synthetic, made up of electronic ‘noises’, airy vocals and uplifting ballards. The album takes strong references from Kraftwerk, Simian Mobile Disco, Whomadewho and Tiga at times with a melancholy and solitary approach to every single track.

Stand outs are the already released ‘Live In My Head’ as well as ‘Lonely By Your Side’, ‘Blue Sea’, ‘Saturation’ and a darker slower ‘Witness’.

The potential already there for countless EPs and unofficial remixes will be immeasurable.

A little exert taken from the Zoot Woman site;

‘The euphoric title track emphasises the want to return to how things once were in another state of mind, time and place’

While this album takes you on a journey, sometimes introspective and often drenched in desire, each track is unique. From the pulsing hook line of ‘We Won’t Break’, feeding an addiction to emotional melody in ‘Lonely By Your Side’ and ‘More Than Ever’, then to be shaken up by the pounding stadium electro of ‘Witness’ - Zoot Woman

‘Things Are What They Used To Be’ is set for a September release through Bandroom Records.

Chuckie (Clyde Narain) is a producer Don Rimini told me to look out for, in a recent interview (that will be up shortly). Hailing from the Netherlands, Chuckie has been producing music for sometime now, also running a club night ‘dirty dutch’ which is sold out every night. He also has a stage at the Dutch festival Mysteryland. First up i have one of his banging tracks that features a very well know sample enjoy.

Chuckie – Aftershock (can’t fight that feeling)

Next on my hit list is those infectious rockers Friendly Fires who are slated to play Splendour in the Grass in late July, which I’m quite excited about seeing them, but to the remix. Its a Thin White Duke (known as Stuart Price) remix many of you may know the Thin White Duke as different personas that seem to wow whatever they do!, the list includes Zoot Woman (with Adam and Jonny Blake), Les Rythmes Digitales, Paper Faces,Man With Guitar and Jacques Lu Cont. As you can see a very busy guy.
