We haven’t had any interviews for a while so thought it would be good to grab some recent talent in the form of disco lovechild Justin Faust for a little Q and A.

Ubbs: Name? age? fetishes?

JF: Hi there, my name is Justin Faust, I’m 33 years of age and I have a fetish for Abasiophilia. Look it up!

Ubbs: First thing that comes into your mind when you think of the word ‘music’

JF: More needed than food, sleep and water… I guess.

Ubbs: A lot of producers/artists find themselves emersed in music from an early age, was this a similar upbringing for you? especially regarding your sound?

JF: Absolutely. I grew up in a very musical household, my dad is a composer and producer, he has his own studio. So I was surrounded by records, instruments and whenever I wanted I could use them. I started to play drums when I was 11 years old and since then went through a couple of instruments, played lots of guitar and a bit of saxophone and, as a main instrument, the piano. And I had the chance to play with a lot of really good musicians. So, considering that, I had the best start into a musical carrer possible!

Ubbs: Theres one liner on your myspace ‘Live life in the Faust lane’, did you come up with that all by yourself?

JF: No, that was phrased by Fakebeat, who is a producer and writer for ”Discodust” and “French Express“. He came up with it and I was like: ‘Yes! That’s my slogan right there!”. Maybe he should do that for a living, haha.

Ubbs: Do you think of yourself as successful or just kicking it and content with life?

JF: Depends on how you define “successful”, that’s quite a big word. After all it’s not about sales figures or the charts, it’s about loving what you do and being loved by those who care and know about quality. So you might say, I’m successful in liking what I do.

Ubbs: Lasty, bit of fun.. if you could bring someone back from the dead for a hang who would it be?

JF: Ricky Gervais. Oh wait, he’s still alive, right? Then I’d go for Miles Davis, Igor Stravinsky and Jimi Hendrix. I would talk them into a collab for my label. What a wicked release THAT would be!

So there we go, crushes on people with impaired mobility, lives life in the Faust lane and wants to jam with jazzs great, classical composers and electric guitar heros.
