So ‘Mars’ and Fake Blood is pretty autonomous with ‘banging’ and it’s finally having its oh la la official launch and when your EP reads like the who’s who of dance music then it’s out to be a special affair (ie Jack Beats, Herve, Boy 8 Bit, Style of eye).
There was some confusion at first as a Boy 8 Bit cover was making the rounds early September but looks as if its just the remix and the Style of EyeTool for School mix was different to the proper Edit for Debit mix that made the cut. Anyway, bit of information overload on something you can listen to and buzz.
Went on a bit of a Google spree to try describe the intro to this song and the best think I could come up with is ‘rump pa rump pa rump’ haha thought it was a childrens nursery rhyme of some sort… what was that one with the kid and the flute and the rats?

Well the long weekend has finished and i was feeling quite under the weather after my efforts at Sinden/Fake Blood which didn’t fail to amaze myself and my mates that i had gone with. Sinden played his brand of ghetto bass mash up, while Fake Blood’s Scratching effort got everybody jumpin’ pass the disco lights, But enough of that to the tunes.
Green Velvet have recently released some new material in the form of an EP called The Case (Of The Lost Jacksters). The track i have for you today is the title track off the EP which is quite funky indeed, cracking bass, funky noise incorporated with story style lyrics DOOOOOOZE! (Means Awesome!)
I’ve been digging A-trak lately due to his new mix CD ‘Infinity +1′ which mixes together a bit of the new and a bit of the old and gold to deliver a mix ready to be played at any house party with a CD player. In saying that his track ‘Say Whoa’ shimmies it into the golden reel but then i came across this off the EP which has that signature ghetto rave style by the man Sinden.
Yoshio dropped into the States with barely any english and started attending a heap of Dim Mak parties. He was spotted and eventually scored an intern at the label doing who knows what. Somehow the idea sprung of giving him a mic and standing him in front of a camera and well… hilartiy ensues.
Bit of background info belowz;
YOSHIO SUNADA is a Japanese student who arrived in Los Angeles, California on October 2007 in hopes to study the English language, and experience life in America. During his studies, he found himself submerged in a new subculture & music scene he had never known to exist. He found himself following parties thrown by a Japanese-American DJ by the name of STEVE AOKI and his company, DIM MAK. Steve and several Dim Mak staff members began noticing a particular young Japanese man who would be at every event/ party from LA to San Francisco. To make a long story short, Yoshio decided to look for any opportunity to be more involved, & Dim Mak took him in as an intern in June of 2008. Every one had and continues to discover a very unique personality that is combined with innocence and a good heart.
This resulted in giving Yoshio a microphone and camera crew to document what Dim Mak is blessed to have as part of the family.
YOSHIO SUNADA is NOT a character. He is NOT an actor. His conversations, thoughts, and actions are NOT scripted.
Kitsune (now a clothing label as well!) are releasing a compilation titled ‘The Turn’ come May the 25th with a number of always lufly tunes which you can go tease in video form here. A standout was a Fredo Viola track ‘The Turn’ remixed by Fink, with lightly plucked strings and angelic voice the thing screams of originality.
Two tunes from Relentless who happen to be a two piece from California and produce pretty progressive sounds, ala Booka Shade with a bit more kick.
What they sent out were a few originals and remixes from the likes of After Midnight and Stereoheroes. Both have their moments although I’m a little more relaxed these days so the After Midnight Remix was a delight.
This Yuksek remix made its debut roughly 2 weeks ago over at LA Friendly and I’m suprised it missed alot of hype. Maybe because it didn’t contain the words Phoenix, Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, Tiga or any other huge albums/tracks released/leaked recently.
The thing reminds me of someone just pumping away at a keyboard set to ‘Futuristic’, has such a good blend of French pop and Yuksek cool.
Aeroplane put together a HUGE mix a while ago for Mixmag filled to the brim with disco treats and it being so big and so good I declare it a MEGAMIX! Although the things a little old it still makes me smile… and isn’t that what counts?

Lastly in homage to Fake Blood playing KILLER this Easter weekend in Sydney along side Sinden and Trentemoller I’m posting up this Touche remix (low quality so I don’t get abused).
As yall should know Touche>Fake Blood>The Black Ghosts so much like other equally quirky Dj’s with many alias this is just another to add to the pile with the only distinction each alias proves a new sound and usually quite good.
This time its Dukes of Windsor’s new single ‘Runaway’, which is/has been sent out to the world to get the treatment from whoever was game. The result… fairly easy listener, my kind of tune.
I really hate to break your heart with the Touche post, it’s actually our remix. I hope you still like it though – Brad from Touché
Fair bit of time on my hands meant I could have a good browse of what the interweb had on offer today.
Found my way onto the EKS Otus Dj Controller and the thing looks super swish and most likely super expensive.
The whole idea is it steps away from vinyl, away from cdj’s and syncs and turns your laptop into an actual tangible mixer/controller. Where by instead of using your mouse/shortcuts to drop treble, add a sample or loop something you can use the EKS Otus Dj Controller.
With the push of a button you are doubling the functionality, has an onboard mouse pad a stack of hardware to boot so it got my vote. Was also used by Fake Blood for his essential mix a month or two ago (well 3 of them!).
Mad Kids sent out to the blogs 3 new toys to play with, 2 remixes and an original work. You might remember their remixes of 3 is a Crowd and Jesse Rose’s ‘Touch My Horn’ (Crookers remix here).
Of the three the Mad Kids remix of ‘Eurovision’ by Zombie Disco Squad is a killer, simple intro with real fuzzy bass plastered all over it. Add looped vocals and double claps and you should get the right idea.
Plus only a low quality version of Lady Sovereign’s single ‘Human’ remixed by Sinden. You may notice something familar about it.. and your right it samples/steals The Cure’s ‘Close to me’.
Give it a few listens and it starts getting catchy.
Watch our rambles on Twitter here, preview tracks on Hypem here or join our Facebook group to chat to us here.
Don’t forget to come party with me and Hatch at Hugs tomorrow (Friday) with Shazam, Dan De Caires, Kato + more at Nevermind on Oxford St. $10 before 12.. do it!
Also the Spank Records/Bang Gang Damn Arms is underway so head over and grab the sample pack and get cracking. I know Kraymers already started as well as Son of Vader so go go go.
Extra extra (Wow’s on a bit of a roll with posts so adding a few tracks that have been sent through)
Got a big post packed full of exclusives from Sweat It Out for Oh Snap’s EP ‘Bill Coby’s Sweater’, R!M!E’s debut into Fake Bloods essential Mix pa-lus another track that Fake Blood used and you should hear, Mod Squad (Modular) dropped a fancy little Tough Alliance track for free, some new stuff from Soda Boys as well as a remix of New York’s ‘Fire and Reason’ with the promise of more on the way.
Oh Snap has this novelty outlook at current trends and life, one of his first notable tracks was his vocals for ‘Indie Hipster Douchebag’ by having a dig at skinny leg jeans, keeping it real and general scene kids, the ironic twist was his fans were just that!
His new EP ‘Bill Cosby’s Sweater’ is filled with more comical tracks such as ‘Everyone’s a DJ’ and ‘Bill Cosby’s Sweater’ with remixes by Edu K, Mujava, Hostage and Kazey and Bulldog.
Sweat It Out were nice enough to hook Stoney Roads with a double helping offering up the Edu K and Mujava remix of ‘Everyones a Dj’ to get the taste buds adjusted to these party tunes!
Pee Ess keep an eye on my favorite blog here for the other two
R!M!E comes across as a pretty modest guy and when his bootleg for Fake Blood’s ‘Mars’ popped up in the recent BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix by the man himself Fake Blood he was a little more then suprised.
Admittibly there’s more then a few Mars Remix’s floating around but this one takes the good and the better, chucks them into his mum’s food mixer and then came up with this super dance floor friendly version 2.0.
Another impromptu appearance in Fake Bloods Radio 1 Essential Mix was Vektorkat, apart from having the coolest name of 2009 and coming from France he has these hard synth driven Daft Punk-esque beats.
Tough Alliance are lucky enough to nestle with the Modular Stable of artists and comprised of Eric Berglund and Henning Fürst. They are the Swedish Ted and Francis, with keyboards and angelic vocals.. still not sure? Just listen to the track!
Soda Boys came out of the blue on this one, although from the looks of their myspace its a big collective of producers etc and have a pretty professional look.. their remix of Avenue ‘Can You Feel It’ has a very modern pump-beat and a general feel good direction.
Fire and Reason are led by Bella Saona and Steve Narvaez and create such lucious, latino banging tracks (even though they live in New York!). Bella sent along this Killer on the Dance Floor Remix of Fire and Reason’s ‘Preste Atençao’ and it bumps along with such authority!
I’ve also been told we will be seeing a few more singles released and mixed by Larry Tee, Alexander Techinique and The R.O.A.R.
Also got a sneak peek at a soon to be official remix of Lost Valentino’s single ‘Midnights’ and a big release from Act Yo Age that got me excited.
Think that’s all I’ve got in me for this lovely but hungover Saturday evening, fingers crossed I make it through the night. Don’t forget to add us on Twitter here, Hypem here and Facebook here.
Who would have though those Irish bastards U2 would end up getting remixed by the Itallian Stallions Crookers… and decently too.
The Crooker’s game really has dropped with this sort of industrial manufacturing of tracks but then something like this comes along to stimulate the mind and feet.
Rumour: The new u2 album was leaked by pure accident with the click of a button in outlook sending it to a ‘distribution list’.
*Disclaimer – U2 may or may not be Irish Bastards
Next up thanks to ‘you can call me pelski‘ is a Fake Blood Remix of Unkle’s track ‘Restless’. Ooooozing (yes pun intended) with that thumping FB beat and using the original lyrics to create layer on layer of building goodness I could easily place this in a top track of the week.. yes you heard it here!
Ok, this track has been blogged to death but this remix hasn’t so check it, it has a lovely house influence as well for all you house fans. This track can be found on the Beeper EP with the usual remixes that have been floating around i.e. Fake blood, A-trak,
This next track from Tiger & Woods is a great little disco number i can’t seem to find much more information than it came from there Hole in One EP. So here we are.
Its a Monday. Havin’ a shit day? Not anymore. 2 songs I shall be surely hearing around the uni campus are in this post. Neither remix producer needs an introduction as they are kings of the game at the mo. Crookers and Fake Blood are both currently touring Australia with Stereosonic and Fuzzy respectively.
Well in terms of track description both songs will make your fat jiggle for about 4 hours or if your really skinny your ribs will vibrate Thanks LA Friendly for getting this track up first Get to one of their gigs! Or regret it for the rest of your days
Stoney Roads was created to showcase and feature new and talented dance and indie artists. All music unless permission granted is posted at a reasonable level for listening purposes, we do not condone posting of full quality releases. Without money going back to the artist we are merely shooting ourselves in the feet. Think before you post!
