Acephale tend to drop releases from the likes of Salem, Air France, Memory Tapes, Memory Cassette and even Australia’s Midnight Juggernauts.. all fitting that weird sorta different but totally listenable tunes category.

Mindreader ft Shyvonne from Kingdom was and is a strange choice for the label but has totally worked in their favour by combing a progressive house tune and fitted with remixes from grimesters like l-vis 1990 and bok-bok (be sure to check their US/UK snack challenge) and then putting their roster to good use and popping cfcf and fellow noise maker Todd Edwards on there.

The result is a track that won’t likely hit the clubs anytime soon but still reveals elements of the original we can appreciate.

If your still in luck you can grab the uber limited foil embossed 10′ with only 500 pressed or do the norm and spend some digital bucks at Fools Gold to get the goods.

Debut release from The Dark Esquire on the thisisnotanexit label, a dramatic early 80’s synth sound with plenty of pop and running basslines, a tumbling acrobatic piece.

Featured along side the original are the dreamstate CFCF Remix and a bit-more-bop Crimea X mix. There will also be a 7′ with a Liquid Vega and fellow disco-torian Night Plane mix.

The release will see a limited 300 12′ pressed come January 25th 2010.

The myth or man behind it all is actually Dayve Hawk (interesting read over at Pitchfork) of previous and still current fame Hail Social and has seen a lot of blog love from most and usual suspects.

What Dayve and Patrick (the man behind label Acephale) have cooked up is a free, yes free little ep to support the full album already purchasable right here.

Dayve got some of his buddies to jazz up two originals, ‘Last One Awake’ and ‘Surfin’. Both tracks have such melodic translucency, no glitch or clash here just super smooth and enchanted beats.

My two pics from the heap Patrick sent through were a self mixed Weird Tapes lick (thanks brad) and the ever lushious CFCF. Plausible to think you has been taken back in time or to another place.. a utopia.

Started raining last night and hasn’t stopped, so it’s given me time to sit down and get blogging! There was some great feedback on the last post so going to include some original Redlight material, Crookers remix Jesse Rose’s ‘Horn’, Dada Life are dropping a new EP which i’ll delve into later next week, Daz the Dominant is back after a long hiatus with some original stuff and CFCF make a debut on Stoney Roads.

Did anyone hear about Princes shows last week? He covered Elvis Presley and Hendrix and Chaka Khan made an appearance… the weird keep getting weirder.

Qui over at Castle of Noise sent through a new Crookers remix of Jesse Horn’s track ‘ Tough My Horn’ and the thing rules the school. Very keen to hear a proper version but this will do for now. Listen out for Jesse’s Horns, Crookers rumble and Proxyesque fade.

Was looking for lost files (thanks outlook and opera) and stumbled upon a Redlight track I missed a month or two ago and couldn’t believe my luck. Somehow they have bottled the early 90’s and drown this track in it, big ol ‘hey’ samples and fresh beat.

Daz the Dominant had his start when he remixed The Beastie Boys to perfection. It shuffled to the #1 position in Hypem and must have motivated him to put his ass in gear and start working on something he could call his own. Gottadancedirty picked on this one, my memory was hazy but I was positive it did do well but I can’t find it anywhere now.. might have gone close sorry – Ubbs

Whilst hard at work he sent through two tracks, Make Me Feel and Connect the Dots. Make Me Feel is the pick for me with a similar sound to Shadow Dancer minus the vocals. I’d suggest Daz get’s a hold of someone to do just that and then your looking at something really special.

Dada Life have released the Happy Hands & Happy Feet EP as I type. Part of the release was setting free the original off the EP that includes remixes from Malente, Alex Gopher, Moonbotica and Phatzoo. Dada Life don’t define or recognise music genres and constantly dabble here and there whilst getting involved with such influential names such as Boys Noize, Tonite Only and Alex Gopher.

The original Happy Hands & Happy Feet gives you something to smile about, much like the rain it almost pitters and patters with some great breaks and such a high powered beat, expect more next week.
