i know i know phoenix have been remixed to death but i thought the album was that good that this remix needed to be posted to show off the skills of a duo from the south of sydney where the talent is not that great bar a few exceptions, polographia have just started to dj in the sydney scene, they dj music from the ever growing nu-disco genre with productions along the same lines drawing influences from canyons, holy ghost and the like.
the boys say they have an ep that is going to be released soon but no mention of when. this remix is down tempo with slow vocals over a rolling synth that you just cant get enough of.
New to the scene, Happy Go Lucky is 20 yr old Sydney kid Matt Cornell. I’m giving you his debut remix of Damn Arms’ track Destination, which he says is “a laid back but still dramatic representation of (Destination) but still keeping the fun factor that the original has“. Download this track.
Happy Go Lucky tells me a Phoenix, 1901 remix is in the workshed, along with an Autokratz remix. Stay tuned for some originals, and a dabble in some sleazy basslines and heavier tunes.
The Canadian duo, Andrew Ross and Scott Seewhale have been busy busy busy remixing everyone from Chromeo’s 100 Per Cent to Pase Rock’s Get Money Kids, both getting massive amounts of airplay
Toronto’s trusted Eye Weekly news-title described them as “developing a stronger sense of song writing and melody” compared to their peers. Their unique sound combines ‘vintage acid synths’ with modern techno and house. It works! Picked up by A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs, and signed to their label other artists on the roster include Kid Sister, Sammy Bananas and Chromeo.
With a Fools Gold podcast in the works Nacho Lovers is a name to watch out for in 2009 (and no, we don’t mean pub munchies!!).
LA Friendly just dropped the single ‘Lisztomania’ off Phoenix’s new album ‘Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix’ here, the album’s due to be released May 25th.
So as predicted ’1901′ remixes are being dropped like flies around here and to be honest they all really hold different qualities that make them great… who know’s might be the Phoenix in all of them?
David Miller of band Mother/Father’s ‘Nu Wave’ take on Phoenix’s ’1901′ has exceptional build, flow and echo’d vocals making this a new found favorite.
Lapse opened for The Bloody Beetroots about a week so from the look’s of things and I was expecting something a litte bit heavier. What I got was yes, a track with a bit more kick but compliments ’1901′ perfectly in a sense of being able to be played out or even at home.
Messkid always likes to pop by and say hello at Stoney Roads with a project here and remix there. I noticed the other day his version of Lady Gaga’s ‘Pokerface’ on another blog and wasn’t overly impressed! (just stirring), but he assured me it leaked and hadn’t been ‘fully finished’.
So here is the full thing, amazing remix… so much fun!
Yes, thank god it IS Friday… although having finished up work most days seem like Friday anyway!
Saw Ted and Francis played a free show last night at Oxford Arts Factory and was suprised that it wasn’t packed to the rafters, real small and intimate show and such simplicity to it all.

Act Yo Age sent out a new release in ready-ness for Friday the 13th named ‘Lucky 13′. I’ve learned never to really expect the normal from these guys and this is no different… 100% party tune, one that makes you swing low and jump high!
Rumour: Bot from the Crookers engineered the track ‘The Flash’ off Act Yo Age’s EP Hott This
Lion’s at Your Door are this great little Australian band with creative taste and quality, what happens you throw them in between two tectonic plates 1000Km’s under the ocean then shoot them into outta space?
Phoenix are tempting us all with a track off the new album ‘Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix’ titled ’1901′, so far it’s already been played 5 times without any sign of slowing up!
Phoenix did a cover of Air’s ‘Playground Love’ for the soundtrack of ‘The Virgin Suicides’ of which Thomas Mars (Phoenix) is married to director Sofia Coppola

Stoney Roads was created to showcase and feature new and talented dance and indie artists. All music unless permission granted is posted at a reasonable level for listening purposes, we do not condone posting of full quality releases. Without money going back to the artist we are merely shooting ourselves in the feet. Think before you post!
