STRIPPED BACK

strippedback

Its good to see that producers are stripping back tracks, removing all the unnecessary noise and concentrating on a killer combination of bass and melody. This might have been due to a rise in popularity of minimal tech (renaissance man) or just people being plain tired of it all.

Benjamin Daly is a London lad with skills, with only so few tracks on his myspace its impressive how far he has progressed. Two licks here, one from the ever-drama-ful Deadmau5 that keeps and enhances the sharp harpsichordial sound that IS ‘Ghosts n Stuff. The next is one of the last Crookers installments ‘Business Man’ feat Wiley, that throws in some low shaking bass and upped vocals.

B. Rich has this sort of RnB Dubstep thing going on, heavy and slow bass meant for slow jams and sways. What Manikan has done is ramp this into a proper dance tune whilst shredding away the extras. The final tune is ravetastic… almost dancehall-esque, come 2:40 it takes a very different turn and would find itself in a Major Lazor set very easily.

Heaps of new stuff this week.

you’re right. That Manikan remix is legit. I like the heavy basslines, but I think right before that 2:40 break it gets a bit repetitive. I think a proper edit would make it just the right pace for a rave set. I think I’m gonna use it.
