Subvader aint yo typical Dubstep producer. So what makes him different? First thing is, he lives in michigan. You would not clasify this state in the USA as dubstep territory! The university student/producers has made a new 3-track EP and each track, has it’s own ‘flavour’.(Riding the night EP) SubVader has produced these tracks with influences from tribal to very percussion based music. Essentially, finding and exposing this talent is what Stoney is all about, so take a listen to one of his tracks!
What do get when you hook up the Hump Day Project with all round nice guy MC Shureshock? The Real Deal EP. Shureshocks spits ragga inspired lyrics about raving and good times over a solid slice of funk infused rasta beats complete with sirens, cowbells and steel drums a plenty. The Real Deal is a dancehall flavoured party banga that’ll make you wanna dread lock your hair, eat jerk chicken and dagger anything in site!
Ok so hiatus is over fridays are back i’m a bit more motivated this time and got some young hip and fresh and some old stale and out dated but im sure you’ll dig them. first up is Nick Annand & Greg Fleming AKA Deekline & Wizard who make some pretty nice club tunes, this one is featuring a badass vocal from one of my favourite producers dj assault, old skool electronica tops it off as a pretty dope tune, deekline is currently touring australia with only two shows left in melbourne and sydney be sure to check him out!
Next up is one half of mstrkrft JFK & St. Mandrew who have teamed up for a track called face pump and rightly so the original is a bit of a trasher which i’m finding a boring genre lately but all is forgiven with this remix from congorock who spruces this track up nicely check it.
background check on get cape, wear cape, fly… they are from the you-knighted-kingdom, play sort of shouty, maybe we’re swing or a weazer cover band types but seems genuine all the same.
think everyone got a little prozaced on the jakwob remix of this and forgot about the insanely good His Majesty Andre jam.
RuNRiOT is a London based producer gaining fans through his (what has been described) powerful and energetic live shows. Best known for his ‘Charge’ EP that hit digital stores in 2009, this is a dj who produces originals and remixes that takes elements from acid but is predominantly Breaks.
I know we’ve been a little lack luster in the post department, but we’re trying… think on a whole wow, hatch and myself are fairly busy folk so keep sticking around, we may have a few surprises yet.
Gung Ho! are a London based label last I recall and like the stealth bomber of the ‘dance’ genre, totally run under the radar dropping tune-bombs on 3rd world countries before flying back to their pristine hanger to re-stock.
The last thing that caught my eye was ex-pat Luke Walker and his ‘hiya’ track, totally used snippets from the westworld movie in the quasi music vid… ha good times.
Anyhoo they have given away Robert Cashins no-need-to-be-worried-remix of duel frenchsters cassius which is awfully good. Kinda a smidge of groove while also keeping things on the straight and tech.
TreeboiandKone are riding the DJ/rock star tidal wave that is crashing through the scene and have no reservations. These guys bring a unique melodic yet some what destructive sound. Their tracks usually contain an element of electro, technology and a definite rock act mindset/influence. TreeboiandKone are ready for any challenge and won’t be fading out any time soon.
note – these guys have been getting some serious love on Triple J’s unearthed. So check their Bloody Lovely Audrey remix and vote from them.
CRAP Eyewear had Sydney DJ/Producer DCUP whip up a minimix of dancefloor bombs while he was on tour in Los Angeles. Included in DCUP‘s Snack Pack (aka Minimix) is a debut of his new unreleased remix, Break the Rules by KillaQueenz. zip for the minimix can be downloaded here
In the mean time check Yolanda be Cool and Dcup’s next collaboration.
as arcade fires popularity rises within the mainstream the remixes in formal fashion pop up out of the woodworks.
of all arcade fire material it’s fitting that big man tommie ‘jesus’ sunshine picks out ‘sprawl II’, about the only synth heavy track on ‘the suburbs’.. who I think James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem, DFA) actually helped produce.
very much so an edit, it’s the original with a proper kick in there, although regines voice could actually work well in some dance.
if you haven’t already found some personal time for self-pleasuring then Kasper Bjorkes new ep ‘heaven’ can furfill you and more.
He’s from the new France… Denmark and paints downtrodden almost polite bass lines, lavishly sparred with continous high hats (plus self vocalized).
As mentioned per-above ‘heaven’ is an aurgasm of the slightly reserved kind, it’s not a ‘floor shaker’ or ‘ear bleeder’, more aligned with a young librarians mischievous thoughts.
the muzzle flash mix is my cosmic pick but there’s also a frighteningly gluttonous and long prins thomas diskomiks and nicolas jarr rub.

Born in a club and raised by a pack of wild prostitutes, Chauffeur avoids the light of day. He prefers to live when the stars come out. At night the city is alive and you can feel her pulse. It is the solid thumping kick momentarily drowning all of your senses, the pummeling synths that will turn you savage, the melody and sounds that release your soul. Celebrate good times c’mon!
Fresh on the trail of festival season in Europe, Jaimie Fanatic (aka Suelo) took a few moments of his time out to tell us about his fourth coming album release. Set to hit digital store land on september the 19th, Jaimie Fanatic and fans will be celebrating the launch of ‘The Unexpected’. Well known for his banging remixes, this album is essentially a showcase of his original work, which makes for a very interesting outcome. This is what Jaimie had to say
“with the album I wanted to show people who I am. Not only the remixer who likes hard banging house music but also the artist who got into house music be listening to Laurent Garnier (“Merci Laurent” is my ode to him) and Jeff Mills.
Deep electro acid disco house and techno has always been a huge part of me. Strings and deep distorted sounds are not things you usually hear in my music, remixes but is definitely me. Therefore the album is partially that and partially banging music like most know me.
The album tells a story about how I started into music with hip hop (Kicking up Dirt) and deep dramatic techno house music all the way to Merci Laurent. After that its banging.
I wanted to do the album in Logic completely, but halfway through the album I switched to Ableton Live and finally did the entire album in it. Angel Alanis did the mastering for me. Usually I do all my own mastering but an album is such a delicate thing that I wanted somebody else, with a fresh ear, to master the album.
Kicking Up Dirt and This Beat is iLL will be released as singles on Boemklatsch. Get Madder (with the new titel “Losing Control”) will be released on Funky Muchies (a sublabel of NEWS). I’ll be waiting will be released on Legacy Kids Club (my own label) with several remixes a.o. Supabeatz & Keith. Merci Laurent will be released on a minimal techno label of Angel Alanis and Reprogrammed will be released on Wearhouse Music of Lee Mortimer. Next to these singles the entire album will of course be released, and this will be done on Legacy Kids Club (my label)”
Catherine Kelleher is Catcall, a now solo artist reinvented post a so-last-year punk band and caters for fans of soaring, almost slow earnest chimy folktronica.
Whilst not just sauntering about opening for funk god toni toni lee and recording her debut album, she managed to fit in a little down time with nu-disco bro g.l.ov.e.s to create the a-side edit ‘swimming pools’.
the b-side actually features a real deal 80′s producer/sound engineer/mixer by the name of Julian Mendelsohn, who swashbuckled a couple remixes for the likes of Frankie Goes to Hollywood and the Pet Shop Boys back in the day.
the track unravels like a soundtrack to a movie called ‘the story of your life’… like a blinding light coupled along with the cleverest build will mean being set to head bop mode for the next 9:37.
denmark, home to legoland and vikings… and oh no ono, a cleverly fiendish indie psych four piece filled with un-speakable names (yeah im looking at you aske zidore).
don’t know where they came from, what they are planning to do nor what they look like but they have on the other hand whipped up an assorted ep ‘Internet Warrior’ with not only hype-bot peoples like Caribou and Phenomenal Handclap Band but these obscure types like Higamos Hogamos and Zambri?
anywho’s the cut of my jib is it’s good, it’s different and it’s something you should be listening to right now.
intended to do something a little dancey but haven’t been able to take Our Husbands ‘Villages’ off repeat.
Not only is it honest lo-fi but intentionally more ‘abrasive pop’ as noted by Nathanial (Formerly Fire! Santa Rose Fire!) who works on the track with Freya an established ‘tweed pop’ musician from adelaide.
Stoney Roads was created to showcase and feature new and talented dance and indie artists. All music unless permission granted is posted at a reasonable level for listening purposes, we do not condone posting of full quality releases. Without money going back to the artist we are merely shooting ourselves in the feet. Think before you post!

jesse k: This is amazing. Have been waiting for someone to rival to Tocadisco edit and this surpasses it.
Ashley: I bought my ticket today, I have never been to a festival and only one concert which was death stars, so this...
